Success a Destination or Not

Written by: Muoka Chibuzor

Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

Show me a man who hates progress and success and I will show you a man who has no mission or vision, a dormant dullard. Even the devil craves to be successful. Thus everyone should strive to be successful in a positive way.

The concept “Success” means many things to many people, but in actual reality, it fulfils our desire of satisfaction and happiness at the very end.

At the end of a dark tunnel is light” this is a word of wisdom that proposes the fact that success does not come on a platter of gold. Series of obstacles are surmounted so as to stumble and embrace success.

Success can’t be caged to the concept of positivity all the time. People who oppose the success of others are also craving for the success of their own impious desires.

Success is what God gives to his, the devil assures his followers, the rich deprive the poor and the poor cry out for it. But at the very end, Truth prevails. The Truth is the Light and the light is of God.

Life is a Journey with a full stop.

This full stop is the final destination (Death). To arrive at this destination one encounters lots of accomplishments and mistakes along the way. Permit me to equate accomplishments as success and mistakes as failures.

Both Success and Failures are witnessed in the Journey of life and we cannot say that anytime any of them occurs, that we have reached a destination that calls for relaxation and laxity.
Only fools do…

Success isn’t a destination, neither can Failure be a destination.
“I have seen something further under the sun, that the swift do not always win the race, nor do the mighty win the battle, nor do the wise always have the food, nor do the intelligent always have the riches, nor do those with knowledge always have success, because time and unexpected events overtake them all.” Ecclesiastes 9: 11 - 12

Because unplanned events overtake them both. They are both Time Dependent.

According to the Wikipedia definition of Destination, it says -
A destination is a place to which someone or something is going or being sent. It can be seen as a journey's end, the point of disembarkation; terminus, station, stop, stopping place, port of call; goal, target, objective, end, purpose.
It can also be denoting a place that people will make a special trip to visit.

One might be tempted to equate Destination as Success but it can’t be because man is a creature that isn’t stagnant and moves from one stage of success to another till his biological clock ticks its last. The wants of man are insatiable.

In essence, the only defined destination of a Christian in life as he/she keeps picking pebbles of success and failure in his way to advancement in age and accumulation of experience. Is to meet the lord his saviour at the end and stay with him for eternity, because every other thing is vanity.

Will a reasonable man successfully find a wife and concluded it’s the end or his final objective, goal or destination?
No, he can’t…

Rather he will move further to build a family, build empires of business and leave legacies that will continue to attest to his successfulness.

Success should be seen as bonuses +1 to our everyday activities in life. Your goals in life are what you want to accomplish and once accomplished it’s a success and a bonus to your life and biography.

The anomaly “The rich get richer and the poor get poorer”, is a result of the poor seeing a single bonus +1 as a final destination thinking that life ends there. Forgetting that others can be successful in other ways that can bewilder his/her imagination.

Every day new things emerge and at such one should not see a single achievement as a final destination. The absence of such misconceptions creates room for further advancement and progress in life. Leading to innovation and inventions because people never relaxed when they actually got what they want.

The day you stop reading you start dying, even if you are the chief librarian.

All these points to the fact that success comes along our ways because there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

A time for success and a time for failure.
Never was any of them said to be a destination.

Success is not a Destination but a Motivation for greater Heights.
