How To Become A Great WRITER

Written by: RCB

Writing is a skill which is hard to develop.  You can develop this skill by continuously writing. If you are a blogger then you should write well and attractively for your visitors. Your readers are your best critics.

They can tell you better about what you are delivering to them. There are lots of things you should do to impress your visitors. The most important thing you need to care of is grammatical mistakes.

Try to tell things in a clear and comprehensive way. Here we are discussing few points which would help you to improve your writing skill.

These writing tips cover the basics and the most important aspects of writing.

1. Do it. WRITE.

2. Read as much and as often as you can. Remember, every writer is a reader first.

3. Keep a journal or notebook handy at all times so that you can jot down all of your brilliant ideas. If you have got a smartphone, make sure it’s loaded with a note-taking app. A voice-recording app also comes handy for recording notes and ideas.

4. Make sure you have a dictionary and thesaurus available whenever you are writing.

5. Be observant. The people and activities that surround you will provide you with great inspiration for characters, plots, and themes.

6. Invest in a few valuable resources starting with The Chicago Manual of Style and The Elements of Style.

7. Grammar. Learn the rules and then learn how to break them effectively. Grammar decides the quality of an article. If you are making too much grammar mistakes in your articles then no one wants to read it.

8. Stop procrastinating. Turn off the TV, disconnect from the internet, tune out the rest of the world, sit down, and write.

9. Read works by highly successful authors to learn what earns a loyal readership.

10. Read works by the canonical authors so you understand what constitutes a respectable literary achievement.

11. Join a writers group so you can gain support from the writing community and enjoy camaraderie in your craft.

12. Proofread everything at least three times before submitting your work for publication.

13. Write every single day.

14. Start a blog. Use it to talk about your own writing process, share your ideas and experiences, or publish your work to a reading audience.

15. Subscribe to writing blogs on the Internet. Read them, participate, learn, share, and enjoy!

16. Use writing exercises to improve your skills, strengthen your talent, and explore different genres, styles, and techniques.

17. Let go of your inner editor. When you sit down to write a draft, refrain from proofreading until that draft is complete.

18. Write, write, write, and then write some more. Forget everything else and just write.

19. Allow yourself to write poorly, to write a weak, uninteresting story or a boring, grammatically incorrect poem. You will never succeed if you do not allow yourself a few failures along the way.

20. Make it your business to understand grammar and language. Do you know a noun from a verb, a predicate from a preposition? Do you understand tense and verb agreement? You should.

21. Ask your friend to proofread your article.

22. Do not use the same word continuously or repeatedly. It can diminish the attractiveness of your article. Try to use different words.

23. Use spellchecker tool. It’s helpful in finding your spelling errors. Some of the tools include Grammarly, Windows Live writer.

24. Remove unnecessary words if any. If you found any word which adds no value to the post then it is better to exclude that word from the article.

25. Write to the point and simple. Don’t write with the intent of creating confusion in your readers, write with the notion of bringing them into the world you are creating or expressing. Make them feel at home with your article.

You are a writer so own it and say it out loud: ‘I am a writer.’ Whether it’s a hobby or your profession. If you write, then you have the right to this title.
