The Good Old Days are Gone, Take Me Back

Written by: Imoh Sunday Moses

|Edit Article

Take me back to the old Paths, when Moms were at home.
Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the Navy.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!
Crime did not pay; hard work did; and people knew the difference.
Moms could cook; Dads would work; Children would behave...
Husbands were loving; Wives were supportive; and children were polite.
Women wore the dresses; and Men wore the trousers.
Women looked like ladies; Men looked like gentlemen; and children looked decent.
People loved the truth, and hated a lie; they came to church to get IN, Not to get OUT!

Hymns sounded Godly; Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal; and crying sounded sincere.
Cursing was wicked; Drinking was evil; and divorce was unthinkable.
We read the Bible in public; Prayed in school; and preached from house to house.
To be called a Christian was worth living for; to be called a traitor was a shame!
Sex was a personal word. Homosexual was an unheard of word, and abortion was an illegal word.

Preachers preached because they had a message; and Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible; Singers sang from the heart; Sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!
A new birth meant a new life; Salvation meant a changed life; Following Christ led to eternal life.
Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God; Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord; Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus; and being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

Laws were based on the Bible; Homes read the Bible; and churches taught the Bible.
Preachers were more interested in new converts than new clothes and new cars.
Church was where you found Christians on the Lord's Day, rather than in the park, on the creek bank, on the golf course, or being entertained somewhere else.

Give me that old time religion! 'Tis good enough for me! I still like the "Old Paths" best! Jeremiah 6:16

Oh Lord Revive Us Again.....Take us back Lord to the place where we started, break the chains and make us go free, we can’t stay away any longer, take us back Lord To Calvary.

At Calvary the journey of Christianity began, it Took the Shedding of blood, it took pains, it took rejection, it took groaning, it took sorrow and weeping, it took the piecing of the nails, it took the crown of thorns, it cost Him some reasonable strokes from the roman soldiers, it Cost Him To go Naked, it Indeed took great pains to make us worthy to stand before the Father Again blameless and sinless, it took great pains for the Holy Ghost to Be restored unto mankind.

Forget not the Great work at Calvary....Who is man that God will be mindful of?
But today we are who we are because of His Grace...The grace we celebrate today is a being and He Can be Offended, Shall we continue in Sin that grace May abound???God Forbid.

On The way to Calvary, He wept and suffered for us. Do not abuse His Grace anymore my Brother.
It is time to stand up, Stand tall and Stand out for the Lord. It is time to uphold the Power and Glory of Our Great God. It is time to live out the name you are answering (Christian).

Though the Glasses be shattered, though the church becomes worldly and the world is becoming so churchy, though false prophets arise and the winds of doctrine blow from left to right, thou we live in times were members only want to hear exciting and enticing words from preachers.

Though we live in times were the truth is being trampled upon forsaken and bypassed, though we live in times where people are more interested in big-big titles and positions than in serving The Lord, though we live in times where righteousness and holiness are becoming outdated, though we live in times were the true gospel of Christ Jesus is Hardly heard, though we live in times where the church has become an entertainment house, though we live in times were the church is forgotten and the purpose for its existence, though we live in times were many claim to have known God But The God they Know is Still theoretical...

Men and Brethren, we should remember that the cross still remains the same, there is no modern Christianity, there is No modern Faith, and there is no modern Worship because it is still that same old rugged cross.

Nevertheless this foundation stands sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth those that are His', therefore let they that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
No excuse can reduce God's standard not even civilizations of modernization...It’s a call back to the real gospel of salvation, it’s a call back to holiness.

It’s a call back to a pure and righteous living.
It’s a call back to soul winning.
It’s a call back to a more personal and intimate relationship with The Holy Trinity
It’s a call back to what Christianity really means,
It’s a call back to that power as of old,
It’s a call for the hearts of men to come back to the father,
It’s a call to come back to the Father's house, where there are many mansions.
It’s a second call to the sleeping, weak and backsliding generation and church,
It’s a call back to where we started,
It’s a call back to Calvary,

RETURN BACK TO YOUR FIRST LOVE...
